Help & FAQs
Answers for checks, reports, payments and retrieval.
Use this page for the most common questions about MyPlateCheck. It is written for buyers who need a clear answer quickly, including while viewing a vehicle.
Vehicle checks.
What does the free check include?
The free report uses public vehicle information to show core identity details, tax status, MOT status, MOT history, recorded mileage and related information where available.
Why might some information be missing?
Coverage depends on the vehicle, its age, registration history and the data returned by the relevant source. A blank or unavailable field should not be treated as proof that an event never happened.
Can I use MyPlateCheck on mobile while viewing a car?
Yes. The site is designed to work on mobile so you can enter a registration and review the available information while viewing a vehicle.
Does a vehicle check replace an inspection?
No. Always inspect the vehicle and its documents, verify the seller, compare VIN/chassis details where appropriate and consider a mechanical inspection before buying.
Buyer and Ultimate reports.
What is the difference between Buyer and Ultimate?
Buyer adds key history checks such as stolen, write-off, keeper, plate-change and V5C information where supplied. Ultimate adds finance and auction/salvage checks where supplied.
When is a paid report credit used?
A credit is redeemed when a paid report is generated for a registration. The 5 Ultimate Checks bundle does not automatically consume a credit when purchased.
Can I return to a report later?
Yes. Completed paid reports are saved as snapshots and can be accessed again through My Reports & Credits.
What happens if a paid supplier fails?
The system is designed not to leave a credit consumed by a failed paid-report generation attempt. Temporary supplier problems should be retried rather than treated as a completed report.
Payments and access.
How are payments handled?
Card payments are processed securely through Stripe. MyPlateCheck does not store raw card details.
How do I retrieve an old report?
Use the Retrieve Reports option in the main navigation or the footer, enter the checkout email address and follow the secure access-link process.
How long does a retrieval link last?
Retrieval links are time-limited for security. If a link expires, request a fresh one using the same checkout email address.
Are searches private?
Vehicle searches are used to return the requested report and operate the service. Customer report access is protected and paid-report retrieval requires verified access.
Still deciding whether a car is worth pursuing?
Run the free vehicle check first and review the public facts before paying for deeper history.
