How MyPlateCheck builds a vehicle report.
Vehicle information does not come from one single database. MyPlateCheck combines available public UK vehicle records with information supplied through specialist vehicle-data providers, then organises the results into a buyer-focused report.

The Free report starts with useful public vehicle information where it is available for the registration.
DVSA MOT information
MOT data can provide current test status plus previous test dates, recorded mileage, failures, defects and advisories where those records are available for the vehicle.
Registration-based matching
The UK registration is used as the starting point for a lookup. Returned vehicle details should be compared with the advert, V5C, VIN and physical vehicle before purchase.
Additional vehicle-history data.
Some buyer risks are not answered by public MOT or tax records. Paid reports use specialist vehicle-data providers to add deeper information where available.
Buyer-level history checks
Buyer reports can add information such as stolen-vehicle markers, insurance write-off history, keeper and registration activity, V5C history and import, export or scrapped indicators where supplied.
Ultimate-level finance and salvage checks
Ultimate includes everything in Buyer and adds available outstanding-finance information plus auction or salvage history and supporting evidence where returned by our specialist data providers.
Vehicle specification information
Paid reports can also include richer technical specification data such as power, transmission, body style, dimensions, weights and other model-specific information where our data providers return it.
Why records can differ or be unavailable.
Different databases update at different times
Vehicle data is collected and maintained by different organisations. A change may appear in one source before another, so dates and statuses should be read in context.
Not every vehicle has every record
Age, registration history, data coverage and the type of event being checked can all affect availability. MyPlateCheck does not invent a value when a source does not return one.
A clear result is not a substitute for inspection
No database can confirm the current mechanical condition of a vehicle or the quality of every repair. Use the report alongside the V5C, VIN, service history, seller evidence and an appropriate physical or professional inspection.

MyPlateCheck converts available source data into clear sections and statuses so significant buyer risks are easier to identify without removing the supporting detail.
Unavailable is different from clear
Where a check genuinely returns no marker, the report should explain that no matching history was found. Where a source cannot provide a result, the report treats that separately rather than presenting an unsupported clean status.
